Motivation and game elements: how does a leaderboard help learning?

Many notice that it is difficult to get interested in the monotonous "cramming" of the multiplication table. This is where learning through play (gamification) comes in – applying game elements to the learning process. Our platform's results table is not just a simple list of numbers. It is a powerful psychological tool that turns boring math into exciting races.

Why do we love to compete?

Healthy competition is a natural engine for improvement. Seeing their name on the "Weekly TOP" or "Monthly TOP" list makes players feel proud and recognized. This stimulates the release of dopamine – the happiness hormone – in the brain. Unlike a school grade, points in a game trigger a desire to try again and improve one's score.

Even if you didn't make it to the top ten, the very ability to see others' results creates a benchmark. "If others scored 500 points, it means it's possible, and I can do it too!" – such a mindset cultivates persistence and goal-seeking, qualities useful not only in math but also in life.

How does the point system work?

Our algorithm is designed to value not just correct answers, but also consistency. Here are a few secrets on how to climb to the top of the leaderboard:

  • Combo seriesAccuracy is more important than speed. Answering correctly several times in a row activates "Combo" mode, which multiplies points. One mistake breaks the streak, teaching focus and patience.
  • Difficulty levelsPlaying at "Pro" level (multiplication up to 100) accumulates points faster than at "Explorer" level. This motivates not to stay in the comfort zone but to accept bigger challenges.

Parent tip: how to react?

It is important to interpret the leaderboard correctly. Use it as a progress meter.

Celebrate small victories: "Wow, today I scored 50 points more than yesterday!", "I already beat my record from last week!". This approach forms an understanding that intelligence and abilities are not fixed – they grow with effort.

Security and privacy

Our leaderboard is built adhering to the highest privacy standards:

  • We never ask for full address or phone number.
  • Only the name and the first letter of the surname (or a nickname) are shown.
  • Email is optional and used only if you want to receive update information yourself.
  • You can change your display name or clear data in your browser at any time.

Diplomas and awards

Besides a place on the leaderboard, after every game, one can download a personal diploma. This is a great way to memorialize success.
